about |
From its modest beginnings with only three official venues, the Toronto Jazz Festival has grown in 25 years to become the city’s largest music festival attracting over 500,000 people annually to more than 40 venues, clubs and stages all across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The Festival, as with jazz itself, has been in constant change during its rich history – adapting its sound, swelling and shrinking, looking to the past while simultaneously breaking new ground. By presenting the young lions, the jazz greats and tomorrow’s rising stars, the Festival has woven its way into the very fabric of Toronto and become the sound of the city. Since its inception, the Festival has hosted over 25,000 artists; contributed over $420 million to the GTA economy; welcomed over 8.5 million people to the Festival; and presented over 1,900 free public concerts. |
